Equal Right to Knowledge
Both men and women are equally encouraged to seek knowledge. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Education is compulsory for every Muslim."Also, great female Muslim Scholars existed at and around the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him). Some were from his family and others were his companions or their daughters. Equal Right to Choose a Spouse
Islam has honoured women by giving them the right to choose a spouse and keep their original family name once married. Additionally, many have the impression that parents force their daughters into marriage. This is a cultural practice, and has no basis in Islam. In fact, it is prohibited.At the time of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), a woman came to him and said, "My father has married me to my cousin to raise his social standing and I was forced into it." The Prophet sent for the girl's father and then in his presence gave the girl the option of remaining married or nullifying the marriage. She responded, "O Messenger of Allah, I have accepted what my father did, but I wanted to show other women (that they could not be forced into a marriage)."
Equal yet Different
While men and women have equal rights as a general principle, the specific rights and responsibilities granted to them are not identical. Men and women have complementary rights and responsibilities.Aside from external and internal anatomical differences, scientists know there are many other subtle differences in the way the brains of men and women process language, information and emotion, just to mention a few.A socio-biology expert, Edward O. Wilson of Harvard University, said that females tend to be higher than males in verbal skills, empathy and social skills, among other things, while men tend to be higher in independence, dominance, spatial and mathematical skills, rank-related aggression, and other characteristics.It would be foolish to treat both genders the same and to ignore their differences. Islam teaches that men and women have complementary, yet different, roles because it is best suited to their nature. The Family Unit
God created men and women to be different, with unique roles, skills and responsibilities. These differences are not viewed as evidences of superiority or inferiority, but of specialisation. In Islam, the family is of central importance. The man is responsible for the financial well being of the family while the woman contributes to the family's physical, educational and emotional well being. This encourages cooperation rather than competition. By fulfilling their mutual responsibilities, strong families are created and hence strong societies.Also, emotionally, neither men nor women live a happy life without one another. Allah describes this beautifully by saying:"They are clothing for you and you are clothing for them."Qur'an 2:187Clothing provides comfort, warmth and security as well as making one look good - this is how the relationship between the husband and wife is defined in Islam.
However, the Qur'an is not a book of science, it is a book of Signs! Many scientific facts that are expressed in an extremely concise and profound manner in its verses have only been discovered with the technology of the 20th century. These facts could not have been known at the time of the Qur'an's revelation, and this is still more proof that the Qur'an is the word of God.In order to understand the scientific miracle of the Qur'an, we must first take a look at the level of science at the time when this holy book was revealed.

Lacking the technology to examine the universe and nature, these early Arabs believed in legends inherited from past generations. They supposed, for example, that mountains supported the sky above. They believed that the earth was flat and that there were high mountains at its both ends. It was thought that these mountains were pillars that kept the vault of heaven high above.However all these superstitious beliefs of Arab society were eliminated with the Qur'an. In Sura Sad, verse 2, it was said: "God is He who raised up the heavens without any support..."(The Qur'an, 38:2). This verse invalidated the belief that the sky remains above because of the mountains. In many other subjects, important facts were revealed at a time when no one could have known them. The Qur'an, which was revealed at a time when people knew very little about astronomy, physics, or biology, contains key facts on a variety of subjects such as the creation of the universe, the creation of the human being, the structure of the atmosphere, and the delicate balances that make life on earth possible.
Women in Islam are thought to be subjugated, degraded, oppressed - but are they really?Are millions of Muslims simply that oppressive or are these misconceptions fabricated by a biased media?"And for women are rights over men, similar to those of men over women."Qur'an 2:228Over fourteen hundred years ago, Islam gave women rights that women in the West have only recently began to enjoy. In the 1930's, Annie Besant observed, "It is only in the last twenty years that Christian England has recognised the right of woman to property, while Islam has allowed this right from all times. It is a slander to say that Islam preaches that women have no souls." (The Life and Teachings of Mohammed, 1932).Men and women all descended from a single person - the Prophet Adam (peace be upon him). Islam does not accept for either of them anything but justice and kind treatment.

Equal Reward & Equal Accountability
Men and women worship Allah in the same way, meaning they worship the same God (Allah), perform the same acts of worship, follow the same scripture, and hold the same beliefs. Allah (the Arabic word for the One true God of all creation), judges all human beings fairly and equitably. Allah emphasises the just treatment and reward due to both men and women in many verses of the Qur'an:"Allah has promised to the believers, men and women, gardens under which rivers flow, to dwell therein, and beautiful mansions in gardens of everlasting bliss."Qur'an 9:72"Never will I allow the loss of the work of any worker amongst you, male or female; you are of one another."Qur'an 3:195These verses show that reward is dependent upon one's actions and not one's gender. Gender does not play any part in how a person is rewarded and judged.If we compare Islam to other religions, we see that it offers justice between the sexes. For example, Islam dismisses the idea that Eve is more to blame than Adam for eating from the forbidden tree. According to Islam, Adam and Eve both sinned, they both repented and God forgave them both.
Belief:
There are six articles to belief;1. Belief in God.2. Belief in the angels.3. Belief in God's revealed books.4. Belief in the Prophets.5. Belief in the Day of Judgment.6. Belief in Al-Qadar (divine predestination).
- Belief in God is to believe that He is One, The Creator, Sustainer, Provider, and the One who disposes of all affairs.
- Belief in the angels is to believe that they exist and that they are honored creatures. Angels are created from light, who worship God alone, obey Him, and act only on His command. Among the angels is Gabriel, who brought down the Quran to Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
- Belief in Allah's revealed books and Prophets means that Allah sent messengers like Noah, Abraham Moses, Jesus, Muhammad (pbuh). And the books that came with them like the Torah, Zaboor (Psalms), Injeel, Quran to call people to worship Allah alone, associating nothing with him. He sent the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as the last messenger, and abrogated all the previous books with the Quran.
- Belief in the Day of Judgment is to believe that the Day of Resurrection, when all people will be resurrected for Allah's judgment according to their beliefs and deeds.
- Belief in Al-Qadr is believing in divine predestination. So everything good or bad that happens or takes place according to what Allah has foreordained. Divine predestination includes belief in four things;
1. Allah knows everything. He knows what has happened and what will happen.2. Allah has recorded all that has happened and all that will happen.3. Whatever Allah wills to happen, happens. And whatever He wills not to happen, doesn�t happen.4. Allah is the creator of everything .
In belief is also your testimony of Faith. In your testimony of faith there are seven conditions;
1. Knowledge which negates ignorance.2. Certainty which negates doubt.3. Sincerity and purity of intent which negates shirk (The sin of idolatry or associating partners, beings or things with Allah)4. Truthfulness which negates hypocrisy.5. Love and devotion which negates disdain of Allah's Deen (religion).6. Submission which negates disobedience.7. Acceptance which negates rejection of denial.
Pillars of Islam
There are five pillars in Islam;1. Shahadah - Declaration of Faith.2. Salat - The offering of prayers five times a day.3. Zakat - The welfare due to giving money to provide for the poor.4. Saum - Fasting during the month of Ramadan.5. Hajj - Making a Pilgrimage to Mecca (At least Once in your life-time).These five pillars are of great importance in Islam. The Beginning;
Islam came to reform human society. It came to encourage the good form from the other revealed books and to discourage and modify the bad that people were doing.
Why we need Islam;
- To secure consistency and rationality in logical thought.
- Through worshiping Allah, life becomes meaningful and most important of all, purposeful.
- To equalize all humans and races.
- To further our knowledge and scientific progress. Islam encourages and even urges its followers to learn, read, write and do research.
- To emphasize all aspects of good manners such as honesty, telling the truth, charity, co-operation and modesty.
- To emphasize contentment, i.e. being satisfied with yourself. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, 'The real richness is the richness of the soul'. Hard work, the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) urges the believer to work and not depend on others. The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) said, 'If you go up the mountain to collect some wood, this is better than begging'
- Security is a basic need of human beings and Islam provides this. When you know that Allah is merciful and guides and protects those who believe in him, you feel secure.
- Islam gives us a real piece of mind because it guides us in every day life. In Islam the right is clear, the wrong is clear and there is no compromises. Islam does not include contradictions. Each order in Islam serves others orders in superb harmony.
- Family protection; Islam gives priority to the safety of the family because Islam takes the family to be the best social unit that secures the physical and psychological needs of parents and children.
- Prayer and Psychological health; Prayer in Islam serves as a symbol of submission to Allah and food for our souls. Prayer kills anxiety, excessive worrying, hypocrisy, reinforces belief, strengthens and waters faith.
The Purpose of Islam;
Islam is a complete way of life that governs all facets of life, moral, spiritual, political, economical, intellectual etc.It establishes peace and order and creates a very strong ethical and spiritual society on earth.The "religion" and "way of life" is to bring the human being back to the natural state that is was originally created in; that of humility, piety, peace and submission.Islam's purpose is to save mankind from the anguish of this world and the here-after.Islam calls people away from the worship of "creation" and calls them towards the worship of the "Creator" and the concept of monotheism uniting us all under one God.
The Benefits;
Islam provides many benefits for the individual and the society these four benefits are the main one gained through Islam;1. The door to eternal paradise - The Quran has said 'And give good news (O Muhammad) to those who believe and do good deeds that they will have gardens (paradise) in which rivers flow..' (Quran 2:25).The Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) has said that the lowest in rank among the dwellers of paradise will have ten times the like of this world, and he or she will have whatever he or she desires and ten times like it.If you enter paradise, you will live a very happy life without any sickness, pain, sadness or death.Allah will be pleased with you and you will live there forever.2. Salvation from Hellfire.This life is the only chance to win paradise and to escape from Hellfire, because if someone dies in disbelief he will not have a chance to come back to this world to believe.3. Real happiness and inner peace.Real happiness and peace can be found in submitting to the command and will of Allah, the Creator and Sustainer of this world.On the other hand, the one who turns away from the Quran will have a life of hardship in this world.This is an explanation of why many people commit suicide as they turn to materials and money for comfort.Money is something that can't buy happiness or inner peace. It is only gained through Islam.Look at Cat Stevens (Yusuf Islam) He used to earn $150,000 in one night performing, after turning to Islam, he found true happiness and peace, which he had not found in material success.

Forgiveness for all previous sins.When reverting to Islam, Allah forgives all of your previous sins and evil deeds.After converting to Islam, the person will be rewarded for his or her good and bad deeds.It is said by the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh); Allah who is blessed and exalted, is most Merciful. If someone intends to do a good deed but does not do it, a good deed is recorded for him, and if he does do it (a reward of ) ten to seven hundred or many more times (the reward of the good deed), will be recorded for him, and if someone intends to do a bad deed but does not do it, a good deed will be recorded for him and if he does do it, a bad deed will be recorded against him or Allah may will wipe it out.
The Results;
The results are pretty obvious.You get self-satisfaction and your life changes for the better.You gain inner peace and happiness that no other thing on earth can give you.A ticket to Paradise is there for you and not to mention keeping you away from Hellfire.Through wudu (Ablution) and prayer you are continuously clean and your health and physical being are pretty much always well.You are constantly in touch with Allah and your soul is fed.You are at peace with yourself.
Indeed, within the last half century, Islam, the religion brought by the Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh), has become the second largest religion in most European countries, as also in America and Canada.Black and white, red and yellow, followers of the Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) come from all human races. Whether in Asia or Europe, Africa or America, in every nook and cranny of this globe, you are sure to find Muslims. They live in the most advanced, sprawling megalopolis as well as in the most primitive nomadic tent, village, hamlet, and even in the bush.

To him they also look to lead them through social and political turmoil. He has always inspired them to greater and greater heights of spiritual and moral upliftment and civilizational achievements. And still does.In short, Muslims believe that through him, a human like themselves, God has spoken to them, and guided him to live amongst them, setting an example and a model for all times to come. Even today he motivates and induces whole populations to yearn and strive to shape their private lives, politics and policies according to Allah's teachings.
