Akhlaq or ethics is fundamental to the make-up of mankind; it is not just for making faith. Prophet (SAW) said in his hadith about good character in these words: “There is nothing weightier in the scales than good morals and manners.” (Abu Dawood). He used to teach people about good Akhlaq and moral values and also said about it in one of his hadith: “Truly, the believer can reach, by means of good manners and morals, the degree of one who constantly fasts.” (Abu Dawood)

Indeed, the Prophet (SAW) laid down for this humankind the framework of perfect human morality. The Allah Almighty said of him, “Truly, your character is Excellent.” (Quran, Al Qalam: 5). Prophet (SAW) came as the perfect embodiment of what it means to be moral and mannerly for all mankind not just for Muslims.

Being Muslim it is our duty to follow the Sunnah of Prophet (SAW) and try to show good Akhlaq towards all people no matter one is Muslim or non-Muslim. Good Akhlaq also includes the sincerity, honesty, and truthfulness in doing the acts of worship like Charity, Salah, Quran recitation, and Tawbah. We should approach Allah (SWT) with beautiful etiquettes for Allah loves the one with good conduct. One’s good character and good Akhlaq are the reasons that take him closer to Allah Almighty which ultimately takes him closer to Jannah. Importance of Akhlaq (Good Character) | According to Quran and Sunnah

Akhlaq is an Arabic term referring to practice virtue, morality and good manners and character in Islam. In simple words, we can say that Akhlaq is basically the ethics, good conduct and moral character of a person. It has been reported that our beloved Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said about Akhlaq in these words: “The only reason why I am sent is to perfect good Akhlaq.” 

An act of goodness is much dear to Allah Almighty than one’s wealth and richness. We should also know that from where this goodness comes. Goodness comes from good Akhlaq which is the practice of virtue, ethics, morality and also a good character. Allah Almighty said that person’s Akhlaq is a tremendous thing in His sight.

We should try to improve our relations with those whom we do not get on; we should seek forgiveness from those who are angry with us, and we should create such a feeling of brotherhood that the Muslim ummah becomes one in reality. This is known as good Akhlaq that we should keep developing between us. If you want to show someone that you are a good person then show him with your Akhlaq because the sign of a good person is that his Akhlaq is excellent.

Quran is the source to cure our Akhlaq because Quran is for all humanity and for all purposes of life. Dhikr of Allah Almighty is the thing to improve Akhlaq. So we have to do sincere dhikr of Allah Almighty and such a light will enter into our heart that people will say what good Akhlaq this person has.

The word Akhlaq appears in the Quran that says of the Prophet (SAW): “Indeed, you are of lofty character” (Quran, Al-Qalam: 4). Akhlaq also appears in many hadiths confirming the necessity and importance of ethics in Islam. An example is one of the hadith of Prophet Muhammad (SAW): “The most beloved of you to Allah is the best of you in character” (Bukhari)

5. Guidance: 

Allah (SWT) says in Quran to His believers

“Those who believe, and work righteousness, their Lord will guide them because of their faith, beneath them will flow rivers in gardens of bliss.”  (Quran, 10:9)

Every day we ask Allah (SWT) for guidance in our salah. We should pray our salah regularly on time and should do good deeds. If Allah (SWT) didn’t accept dua of ours, He is guiding us to something better or delaying it for a later date to strengthen us in faith. We should always believe in Almighty Allah at every cost.

6. Kindness:

Allah Almighty is very generous, kindhearted and benevolent. He will show mercy to His believers. No matter you are in what situation whether its shortage of money, illness, business crises and other situation related to it, Allah (SWT) has a solution to all your problems. Allah says in Quran

“If you are grateful, I will surely increase you.” (Quran, Surah Ibrahim: verse 7)

7. Protection from Shaitaan: 

Shaitaan is very strong and experienced more than we know; we can’t defeat him without getting help from Almighty Allah.  Allah says in Quran

“No authority has he (i.e. Shaitaan) over those who believe and put their trust in their Lord.” (Quran, 16:99)

Allah has given us many weapons to defeat the Shaitaan. A believer should use these weapons that Allah has given him. For example, Ayat-ul-Kursi which is recited before going to sleep and on other occasions. Put your trust fully in Allah (SWT) and know with certainty that Allah (SWT) has something better planned for you.

8. Paradise:

The ultimate promise of Allah (SWT) to His believers is Jannah. All our deeds and actions in this world should bring us closer to Allah (SWT) and earn Jannah. If our deeds and actions are not bringing us closer to Allah (SWT) then we need to re-evaluate our lives, purify our intentions, and seek Allah’s forgiveness and His mercy. Allah says in Quran

“Give glad tidings to those who believe and work righteousness, that their portion is Gardens, beneath which rivers flow. Every time they are fed with fruits therein, they say: “Why, this is what we were fed with before,” for they are given things in similitude; and they have therein companions pure (and holy), and they abide therein (forever).”(Quran, 2:25)

The promise of Paradise is sufficient and is, in fact, more than what we deserve. However one has to earn this, as the product of Allah, i.e. Paradise is not cheap.

These are some of the many promises of Allah Almighty to His believers which we can benefit from by following our faith and religious responsibilities apologetically. Indeed, His assurance is the most rightful of all the affirmation.

2. Forgiveness:

Always try to do righteous deeds for pleasing Allah (SWT). As Allah (SWT) promised to His believers about forgiveness. He also promised of great reward and we can’t even imagine how great this reward would be.

“To those who believe and do deeds of righteousness has Allah promised forgiveness and a great reward.” (Quran, 5:9)

So we all should do good deeds for the sake of Allah’s forgiveness.

3. Remembrance:

Allah Almighty says in Quran:

“So remember me, I will remember you.” (Quran 2:152).

Allah promises his believers that if they will remember Him, He will also remember them. Allah Almighty surely fulfills His commitments.

4. Protection:

Allah promises to His believers that He will protect them from any kind of difficulty or problem. We all should know no one is greater saver than Him. Allah says in Quran:

“Verily Allah will defend (from ill) those who believe, verily, Allah loves not any that is a traitor to faith or shows ingratitude.” (Quran 22:38)

Allah Almighty will protect believers.

A promise is a declaration or an assurance that one will do something or that a particular thing will happen. Allah Almighty is the creator of this world. Allah has revealed a Holy Book Quran for all mankind. Quran is the book of guidance for all mankind. Allah (SWT) spoke of His creation through Quran. “Whoever works righteousness, man or woman, and has Faith, verily, to him will We give a new Life, a life that is good and pure and We will bestow on such their reward according to the best of their actions.” (Quran 16:97)

Because of the difficulty, the believers go through and the patience they show Allah gives them something in their hearts that cannot be described with words.

Man – Woman Spiritualism According To Islam

Allah (SWT) has made man and woman equally and similar in spiritual nature. Allah (SWT) says “O mankind! reverence your Guardian-Lord, Who created you from a single person, created, of like nature, his mate, and from them two scattered (like seeds) countless men and women; reverence Allah through Whom you demand your mutual (rights) and (reverence) the wombs (that bore you): for Allah ever watches over you…” (An-Nisa’ 4: 1)

A woman, however, in many cultures is not dealt decently and one of the reasons for this is, no understating of religion. Islam is the first religion that ensures equal rights amongst both of genders. However, equal rights do not mean similar rights. Many people have trouble in understanding this issue because they view the whole picture on a smaller canvas. These matters need to be seen on a broader canvas.

Allah’s Channels Of Communication!

Allah has always guided the mankind through two main channels. These were the Prophets and the Holy Scriptures. Allah (SWT) has never left the humankind to wander in the darkness of this universe. He has always enlightened the path to success or the right path for humankind through the two major channels of communication.

Primary Channels Of Communication For Muslim

Allah (SWT) completed his knowledge upon his humankind through his last Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his last scripture, Holy Quran. These are the two authentic sources of information for Muslims now, which have been classified primary sources of information. However, if you have a problem in understanding any issue, you even have the option to take help for religious scholars.

Interpretation

The values in Islam have been derived from the laws defined through Quran and Sunnah. The basics remain constant; however, the values keep on changing according to the time and culture, since the interpretation changes from culture to culture. The interpretation changes because the Quran has been revealed in Arabic and the Arabic dialects change from place to place.

Interpretation, hence, plays an important role in our religion. Therefore, interpreters must consider the following things:

They should keep in mind the context in which the subject is being dealt. Same applies for the Sunnah as well.

Keep in mind the background of the revelation. It will help you understand the topic deeply.

Keep in mind the role of Sunnah in interpreting or defining the meaning of the Quranic text.

Our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the living example of our Quran. That is why Sunnah has been considered the second source of information. You cannot understand the issues directly from the Quran or Sunnah alone. You need to go through both of them to understand the issues deeply. For example, prayers have been commanded in the Quran; however, we learn the praying method from the Sunnah only.
