The lives of jinn are very similar to the humans, they eat, they drink, they marry, they have their children, and even they are instructed and guided the same way as humans. We can clearly understand this statement by the following verse of Surah Al-An’am ,

"O company of jinn and mankind, did there not come to you messengers from among you, relating to you My verses and warning you of the meeting of this Day of yours?" They will say, "We bear witness against ourselves"; and the worldly life had deluded them, and they will bear witness against themselves that they were disbelievers. [6:130]

This verse shows that messengers were not only sent down to guide the humans but they were sent down to guide both the humans and jinn.

The jinn live in the parallel world to the humans and since they live in the different dimension the flow of time there is different too. Hence, the life span of jinn is far longer than the humans, they are said to live in around 1000 to 1500 years.

There are believers and unbelievers both, in regard to this creature “jinn”. The unbelievers are called “Satan”. Iblis was the jin who turned into unbeliever when he was asked by Allah to prostrate in front of Hazrat Adam (A.S) but he refused and he was cast out of heaven. Now, we call Iblis a Satan because he is an unbeliever. Jinn have the powers to see us but we (humans) cannot see them. The believers among the jinn try to take us on the wrong path and they try to take us away from the remembrance of Allah. Allah has already made us aware of this in the Surah Al-Araf, verse 27:

“O children of Adam, let not Satan tempt you as he removed your parents from Paradise, stripping them of their clothing to show them their private parts. Indeed, he sees you, he and his tribe, from where you do not see them. Indeed, We have made the devils allies to those who do not believe”.

The above verse clearly states that jinn have the power to see humans and to take possessions on the humans. The only way to keep ourselves safe from the evil beings is to pray five times, to walk on the path which Allah and His messenger (P.B.U.H) has shown us, and to follow the teaching of Quran, Sunnah, and Hadith.

Reality of Jinn according to the Quran and Hadith

The literal meaning of jinn is to hide and conceal. The word jinn came from the word janna which means to hide in Arabic.

Jinn and angels are the supernatural creatures of Almighty Allah. Unlike humans, jinn are the invisible beings, and humans have no such powers to see them, they are invisible to naked human eye. In the Quran, Allah says about the existence of jinn in various instances. The making and existence of jinn is mentioned in the Quran in the following verses, like in Surah Al Hijr verse 27 , Allah says:

“And the jinn We created before from scorching fire”.

It is also mentioned in Surah Rahman, verse 15 :

“And He created the jinn from a smokeless flame of fire”.

Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H) also said the same thing mentioned in the above verses that,

> “The Angels were created from light and the Jinn from smokeless fire.” (Sahih Muslim)

Jinn are also asked to worship Allah as Humans do. Their purpose of life is not very different from the humans as they are ordered by Allah to do the same good deeds as humans do and they are supposed to obey and worship one and only God “Allah”. Like in humans there are two broader categories, Muslims and Non-Muslims, similarly in jinn there are the same two main divisions (the Muslims and Non-Muslims).

Allah says in Surah Al-Dhariyat, verse 56 :

“And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me”.

The above verse shows the same core purpose of life for both the humans and the jinn.

Many Non-Muslims enter into the religion Islam despite of having a Non-Muslim background because of some influence towards the religion Islam. Same is the case with jinn; the Non-Muslim jinn can also turn Muslims if they get inspired by the religion Islam.

At the time of Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H), a group of jinn were turned into Muslims when they heard the recitation of Holy Quran. At that time Allah revealed the following verses of Surah Jinn on Prophet Mohammad (P.B.U.H),

Say, [O Muhammad], "It has been revealed to me that a group of the jinn listened and said, 'Indeed, we have heard an amazing Qur'an. It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. [72:1-2]

 The Right of Justice

Allah says in Quran in Surah An-Nisa about the significance of justice and truth, for example if the truth is going against your parents or yourself even then your first priority is the command of God that never do wrong with others. If our intension behind the witness to truth is for the sake of Allah then in returns His reward is far better than our deeds.

“Believers Be upholders of justice, and bearers of witness to truth for the sake of Allah, even though it may either be against yourselves or against your parents and kinsmen, or the rich or the poor: for Allah is more concerned with their well-being than you are. Do not, then, follow your own desires lest you keep away from justice. If you twist or turn away from (the truth), know that Allah is well aware of all that you do.” [4:135]

Allah also mentions about truth and justice in chapter 5, 4 of Quran in verses 8,135 respectively that:

"And do not let ill-will towards any folk incite you so that you swerve from dealing justly. Be just; that is nearest to heedfulness." [5:8]

"You who believe stand steadfast before God as witness for (truth and) fairplay." [4:135]

Allah gives more value to the rights of mankind than His own worship. Allah declares that if someone not fulfills the rights of humanity or do something wrong or injustice with Allah’s creatures in this world then God has no forgiveness for such actions. Allah loves human beings therefore gives full rights to all of them and now it is the duty of us to fulfill those responsibilities.

 Economic Rights

The cause of failure of nation lies in the unequal distribution of money in a community. Some people have money more than their needs and on the other side some people do not have enough money at least to fulfill their basic need. That is why Allah has declared that in the wealth of rich people there is some part which is the right of poor people. In this way money is evenly distributed throughout the society. Every human being should follow this important economic right because this benefits the nation in so many ways and also lowers the suicidal rate.

Allah states in Quran:

“And in their wealth there is acknowledged right for the needy and destitute.” [51:19]

The Right of Freedom

Freedom is the basic right of whole humanity. God does not bind or limit us in terms of taking decisions, thinking, selecting our own directions it shows that Allah dislikes and forbids the act of enslaves a free man and then sells him.

It is clearly mentioned in Hadith that:

"There are three categories of people against whom I shall myself be a plaintiff on the Day of Judgment. Among these three one is who enslaves a free man, then sells him and eats his money." [Al-Bukhari and Ibn Majjah]

Social Rights in the Light of Quran and Sunnah

Islam is the religion of peace and justice, which gives equal rights to entire humanity. God has clearly declared that no one is superior and powerful in this world over one another. To avoid injustice and cruelty in society Allah mentions the rights of every individual in Quran like rights of spouses, rights of parents and descendants etc. God has commanded to mankind for the fulfillment of rights of people otherwise they would be answerable for their irresponsibility in the Day of Judgment. Allah infinitely loves His creatures and does not tolerate and forgive violation in human rights so that is why whatever the reason behind nonfulfillment or injustice, it is always considered as a greater sin until or unless the person who suffers the violence gives forgiveness by his own will to the sinner.

Individual and social rights of people are discussed in Quran in a detailed way. Here we are discussing some basic social rights which have greater impact on the prosperity of a country.

The Right of Living

Allah is the Creator of this world so He has the only right to take away our lives whenever He wants and no one other than God has allowed for killing human being without any valid reason like corruption etc.

Allah says in Quran:

“Whosoever kills a human being without (any reason like) man slaughter, or corruption on earth, it is as though he had killed all mankind.” [5:32]

Allah forbids killing mankind because He gives them the right to live.

“Do not kill a soul which Allah has made sacred except through the due process of law” ... [6:151]

Living is the basic right of human beings so whoever saves the life of a single man, he or she ultimately saves the whole humanity.

In Quran it mentions that:

"And whoever saves a life it is as though he had saved the lives of all mankind." [5:32]

According to Hadith the person who dies due to contagious disease is considered as martyr

In spite of having all precautionary measures against disease, still if someone gets infected and dies according to hadith they are considered as martyr.

In hadith it is mentioned with examples of infectious disease that:

Allah's Apostle said, "Five are regarded as martyrs: They are those who die because of plague, abdominal disease, drowning or a falling building etc., and the martyrs in Allah's cause.

[Collected by Muhammad al-Bukhari, Sahih al-Bukhari]

Infected people if died they are buried with their blood on their bodies and they are neither washed nor get a funeral prayer for them because to prevent others from the infectious agent. Thus for these reasons Allah has grant them the highest rank.

It is stated in Sahih al bukhari that:

The Prophet collected every two martyrs of Uhud in one piece of cloth, and then he would ask, "Which of them had (knew) more of the Quran?" When one of them was pointed out for him, he would put that one first in the grave and say, "I will be a witness on these on the Day of Resurrection." He ordered them to be buried with their blood on their bodies and they were neither washed nor were a funeral prayer offered for them.

[Collected by Muhammad al-Bukhari, Sahih al-Bukhari]

 Every Disease has Cure

Every disease whether it is infectious or non-infectious has cure; so, keep trying until you develop a vaccine or an antibiotic for treatment. Allah has sent down solution of every problem, we just need to search them and get benefit out of them. For example first antibiotic penicillin we get them from molds.

Allah says in Quran:

“And We sent down in the Qur’an such things that have healing and mercy for the believers.” [Surat al-’Israa, 17:82]

Do not stop to help others just because of the fear of disease

Those who are suffering from disease need special care to cope up with infection. Doctors and nurses are responsible to take care of patients and if because of the fear of infection they do not perform their duties it is not the good idea to not helping others. It is not a preventive measure but a selfish and foolish act. Allah helps and gives reward in this life and life hereafter to those who leave their homes just for the sake of humanity.

Allah says in Quran:

“Those who leave their homes in the cause of Allah, and are then slain or die,- On them will Allah bestow verily a goodly Provision: Truly Allah is He Who bestows the best provision. Verily He will admit them to a place with which they shall be well pleased: for Allah is All-Knowing, Most forbearing.” [The Quran, chapter 22 (Al-Hajj), verse 58–59]
